Larry,
are you using a NetView client? If yes, then verify that the "netview user
id" password on the NetView client and the "netview user id" on the NetView
server are the same. If no, set the NT Performance monitor to track
"netmon". This will give you an indication as to if polling is having
trouble keeping up.

Subject: [NV-L] Demand Poll
Netview for NT v6
I'm having trouble using Demand Poll with any consistency.
I most times get this message:
Error: Cannot establish a connection to the Network Monitor (netmon) on the
server.
The Network Monitor must be running on the server.
Also, check /usr/ov/log/nv.log on the server for possible errors.:
Waiting for a process to open the other end of the pipe.
I checked nv.log and see a lot of this activity.
06/28/00 12:50:52 [netmon] Name lookup on address 10.128.1.250 failed.
Adding hint anyway.
06/28/00 12:50:52 [netmon] Cannot translate address 10.128.*.*. Not adding
hint for it.
Apparently this is keeping netmon too busy to process my Demand Poll.
Anyone have ideas what these "HINTS" are about?
They look like netmon.seed entries. And how do I control this with netmon?
Thanks,
Larry
