No, I don't think so, Ken. Have you tried the seedfile approach, with
only one entry for the router? Have you checked on Dror's suggestion
that there is a problem with the ifType returned by the agent? It is
possible
that it would have happened in V4 as well if you had cause to delete and
rediscover the device. The other thing you can do is to provide name
resolution for all interfaces (it was three wasn't it?), giving the exact
same
name for all three addresses. I would do this in /etc/hosts, putting the
lan address first. Delete all but one of the symbols, and demandpoll
the one you like to get all of the interfaces moved onto it. Make sure the
/etc/hosts is checked first by putting hosts=local, bind in your
/etc/netsvc.conf
file.

Leslie,

Could this also be the reason that NetView displays mutliple router icons
for
interfaces that are all on the same router? I am running NV 5.1.2 on AIX
4.2.1.
This did not start happening until I migrated from v4 to v5.

Thanks.

For problems with devices with large numbers of interfaces, it is
recommended that
you use the Turbo form of the netview database. See the Installation and
Configuration
manual. Be sure to take a database backup first, and make sure you have
lots of
free space in /usr/OV, or the process of converting can corrupt your
database. I know
that 'large number of interfaces' used to mean over 80, but it is
recommended for
over 20 these days.

I have a problem using NetView 6.0 for AIX.
When discoverying a router with 35 interfaces, NetView polls it and after
the router is discovered, NetView deletes it.
Any suggest for this problem?
