Wait a minute.
I just noticed that you said "\usr\OV\newconfig\console\tips.conf". The stuff
in newconfig is what comes off the cd for installation. It provides backup
copies of every config file in case you need to go back to what was shipped.
But none of it is references after the product i installed. The file you need
to modify is \usr\ov\conf\c\tips.conf. That's where the running version is
kept.

Everything there is to know about creating tips is in the tips.conf file.
Presumably when you do ovobjprint for this object you see your OSC_Info field
and value in the output.
If so, then it sounds like a call to Support is in order.

Subject: [NV-L] NetView NT -- tips.conf file
I am trying to add a new "tip" to the list of tips that can
be displayed. This is for a text-field I call OSC_Info that
I've creatd in the ovwdb database, and populate via some
c-code.
It appears the file \usr\OV\newconfig\console\tips.conf
contains the information I want, but if I add an entry
such as...
"OSC Information" = OVWDB OSC_Info
And restart the gui... nothing happens.
How do I add a new window tip to NetView on NT?
Thanks.
