Sure.  snmptrap will allow you to put whatever you like in for the
variables.  You can create your own trap, with your own OID, or you can use
NetView's -- the range of 1000 - 2999 specific id's is reserved for
customer use.   Do you need an example of snmptrap or help in getting it
forwarded to TEC?  Either way you need to say what opertaing system we are
talking about.

Hello Everyone,

I administer 3 NetView servers (2 @ NV 6.0 and 1 @ NV 6.0.1). One server
forwards alerts to TEC. I'd like to warn the operators when I take the NV
daemons down or stop the daemons before a backup. In other words, I'd like
to place text such as "Backup is about to begin" or "Server down for
maintenance" in the message field on TEC. Can I accomplish this with an
snmptrap command?
