Installing the package "bos.msg.En_US.rte" would probably make the
difference. I don't know what the differences there are between this
fileset and "bos.msg.en_US.rte" but it obviously affects a successful
install.

Also make sure you have "bos.msg.En_US.net.tcpip.client" installed. Note
the uppercase "E". Check that you have both "Primary CULTURAL convention"
and "Primary LANGUAGE translation" set to "IBM-850   English (United
States)  [En_US] , again noting the uppercase "E" in "En_US". You can do
this via smitty -> Systems Environments -> Manage Language Environments ->
Change/Show Primary Language Environment -> Change/Show Cultural
Convention, Language, or Keyboard

This solved my similar install problem.

I tried to upgrade from Netview 5.1.2 to Netview 6.0 on System: AIX 4.2.1
BULL.

When i start "Desktop/Install/Install Product/Tivoli Netview Server 6.0
Update"-option in Tivoli (Release 3.6.1), it ends with the following error
in the  "NVS_60_BIN_before.output"-file:

ERROR: The default LANG for NetView on AIX must be English [En_US]

The Problem is: We have set the right LANG. As we looked in "NVprereq.sh"
we
found out, that
LANG is controlled by the precence of  "bos.msg.En_US.rte"-package.
The name of the package on our systems (not only on the Netview-Station) is
"bos.msg.en_US.rte".

.... can anyone out there give me an advice to solve the problem ....
