I don't know about Extreme switches, so my answer applies to the 3Coms.
Yes, Netview as an SNMP Network Manager can be used to manage a 3Com switch.
When well configured, the 3com switches are able to issue traps to the
Netview management station and Netview can collect useful data, even through
the 3com rmon features.
3Com also has its own SNMP device manager: Transcend Enterprise Manager.
Basically, Netview can do what it does. Although I don't see the need for
integrating both, it should however be possible.
