I have seen this with a bunch of Motorola routers that all had the same
interface configured (never found out why - they were FM'ed).  Whenever a
demand poll occurred on one of them, it would find a duplicate IP address
and delete either the original device or the new one.

I've also seen similar problems with HSRP addresses or devices with MAC
addresses that look like HSRP addresses - Leslie has submitted some good
appends on this recently.
