If you are going to go after the trapd.log, here's an example I use a lot.
You
can put this script and others like it in /usr/OV/reports/C.

All_Events_for_Node.sh
#!/bin/ksh
# Show all events for a selected node from the trapd.log
name=$(basename $0)

xnmappmon -geometry 680x500 -commandTitle "$name" \
   -commandHeading "All events from trapd.log for node: $OVwSelection1 " \
   -cmd grep $OVwSelection1 /usr/OV/log/trapd.log

You could grep for other things besides the selected node, such as 'Down',
or
call a script that gets fancier. I'm becoming quite fond of the neglected
reports directory.

No he cannot, unless the events he was looking at were in the last 100
received. When the new workspace is opened, it is primed with the last
hundred events. If these pass through the rule for that workspace, then
they will be displayed. Anything more than 100 events old does not appear
in the current events workspace.

If the event is older than that, the user can try opening Events History,
rather than simply Events, and look at the past events. But bear in mind
that these are recent past events. New events are constantly being added
to the ovevent.log (which has a max size of 2MB) and older ones scrolling
off. In most systems this file does not hold an event more than a couple
of hours. They are not kept for historical purposes. If you want to do
that, then you will have to be doing something with trapd.log rather than
using the GUI.

Is there a way that after an X client closes out his session that he can
get
the prior critical or down events
to reappear in an event workspace. example:

1. User has a dynamic window open tracking critical events plus main event
window.

2. User drops his session.

3. User logs back on to NetView but the main event window does not include
the prior critical events in the list.

Thanks!
