Hello,
thank you James Shanks for your answer : I know about the appropiate
place is not this forum but at least the information that customers are
waiting for fixes so long time. At least you give an answer about how
long to wait for the fix or efix. I already knew about that this APAR
would´t be integrated in NetView 6.0.2 ... But I have to have some
time horizon how long to wait before it's available...I don't thing the
people in my organization will accept an answer of "who knows
when the APAR will be solved, let us just wait and hope it will come
in the near future...". This is of strategic importance as we are in
the start up of Tivoli implementation and want to show some resultats
to the organisation and this automatic creation of trouble tickets from
NetView to TEC and further to Ars is a concrete thing so show up.
As the APAR now is on L3 at Tivoli it would be helpful to get a time
horizon when the APAR is available....

The appropriate place to obtain information about an APAR is from Tivoli
Support. They are the only ones with definitive information. You will be
notified of a fix when one is available. That is standard practice. But
the fact s that this APAR is still being worked on.

It is regrettable that the Support person you spoke to did not set your
expectations correctly. The APAR was taken weeks after code freeze for
6.0.2 and it was made clear at the time that it was taken that (a) it was
not likely to be in 6.0.2 and (b) that no resolution of it could be
expected until after 6.0.2 was generally available, which is still two
weeks away. The average time for APAR resolution is quite high, up to 70
days. The difficult ones take even longer. The Support person should
also have told you that e-fixes are not always available and that you might
very well have to wait until the next release of code to obtain relief.
That is standard practice for many vendors, such as Microsoft. But
Tivoli/IBM does provide patches and e-fixes when possible. This one is
taking longer than we would like, but that cannot be helped. I am sorry if
this news comes as a shock but I have no control over how well the folks
you talk to on the phone, especially those in Europe, do their jobs.

Hello nv-list,
I have waited now from 14/11 -00 to get the fix for APAR IY14285 but am
still
waiting.
I wonder if someone has got the eFix ( emergencyFix Tivoli called it ; I
have
another word for that by now ...)
for this APAR...
I have been waiting for this fix because I can't put my connection between
the
NetView and Tec up
in the production environment if the nvcorrd suddenly dumps and the the
serious
doubt about Tivoli
comes up in the organisation. The NetView V 6.0.2 hasn't got the APAR
incorporated either so
the question is : how long time to wait for an efix ???

A somewhat impatient
