The stub objects are removed every time you do an ovtopofix. You
see them at the beginning, lots and lots of deletes. You can get an
idea of how many you have by comparing the output of
ovobjprint -S and ovtopodump -l. The ovtopodump only counts the
real stuff, and the ovobjprint includes the stubs.
So yes, you can refine your seedfile, stop netmon, do the ovtopofix,
and restart netmon. Instead of rediscovering all of those stubs, netmon
will only rediscover those not prevented by your seedfile.

Subject: Stub objects / netmon crashes
Hi Leslie,
Are stub objects something that can be removed from the database once
they're there, or can you only prevent them by limiting discovery based on
ip address ranges etc, rather than oids. We are currently having problems
with netmon crashes in netview 6.01, and are trying to reduce the number of
objects in our database- as I read that RFI doesn't like databases with
over 10 000 objects in them.
Also- how do you determine the number of objects, including stubs in your
database? ovtopodump -l doesn't seem to include stubs. Any help
appreciated.
Thanks,
