First, be clear on the fact that the sysName is not involved. Netview
does not use the SNMP sysName in labeling or name resolution.
HP Openview does, Netview does not. In V6, it does retreive that
value for routers and store it as routerSysname, but only for use
in connecting unnumbered interfaces.
So that leaves your regular name resolution. The ip address is used
if it cannot resolve the address to a name. You might try a demand
poll to speed the update. Check that the resolution works both ways.
And is it possible that it is timing out?
Something else to try is ovtopofix. It is sometimes necessary to
resolve inconsistencies. Try that first.

Et All,
Can someone explain to me the process in which a node gets its label. I
have a few instances where a IP address is resolvable to a Host Name, the
sysname is set in SNMP and still when the node gets discovered and
populated into the map it has the label of an IP address.
Any help would be appreciative.
