Netview will handle alcatel devices the same way it handles Cisco and
all other IP, SNMP-capable devices. It really does not care, as long as the
devices support the standard MIB-II definitions. All of the built-in
features
of Netview work the same, regardless of the vendor of the devices being
managed. Vendor-specific mibs and trap definitions can be added to
Netview as well. Even Cisco mibs and traps have to be added.
Each vendor may, in addition, offer an application that does additional
management tasks, and that management application may or may not
run on top of Netview, or run elsewhere and integrate in some way. You
might ask Alcatel what management tools they offer, and if they integrate
in any way with a standard snmp manager like Netview. You should also
ask what platforms those tools run on (NT, AIX, Solaris, etc.)

Do any know how to manage alcatel network devices (IP or ATM) using Tivoli
NetView ? And can Tivoli provide a integrated management solution for
alcatel as cisco ?
