Hi,
Can you tell me what the following error message received in midmand.log
really means:
988657485: 04/30/01 15:04:45 Unrecognizable or unauthentic packet received.
A tcpdump from Netview bears the following:
<SrcIPAddress>.1025 > <NetviewIPAddress>.162: [version(1)!=0]
A tcpdump from the firewall:
<SrcIPAddress>.1025 > <NetviewIPAddress>.162: [version(1)!=0]
After investigating, it was determined to be a vrrpNewMasterTrap sent by a
Nokia Firewall running checkpoint fw-1 code. The text of the tcpdump
output leads me to believe its not sending the SNMP traps using SNMP-v1,
which is why MLM is handling these as such. Have you seen this before ?
Thanks in advance for your response.
Netview 6.0.2
AIX 4.3.3
MLM 5.0.6
MLM handles incoming SNMP traffic and forwards it onto Netview.
