Jaiprasad, what you describe is not normal, and I have never seen it
(and I have seen a lot!). Please make sure you are on the latest level
of the code. Do you have more than one map? Are you manually
deleting the interfaces, or are they disappearing by themselves? Are
these HSRP interfaces? And when you do 'Monitor...Network Configuration
...Addresses', and 'Monitor...MIB Info...Interfaces' do the missing
interfaces show in the lists? That is, does the agent report the interfaces
every time? Another thing: Do the problem devices have very large numbers
of interfaces - maybe 70 or more? In that case you must convert to
the Turbo format (see Appendix G in the Install Manual.) Are these
unnumbered interfaces, and if so, is unnumbered support enabled
in netmon configuration, and is the remote router in the map? Is it
possible that there is a duplicate address somewhere? There will
be mention of it in the trapd.log if that is the case. There is
a lot of information in the netmon man page and netmon configuration
online help regarding discovery problems.
Cordially,

Subject: [NV-L] tme 10 - Netview on Solaris.
Hi All,
We have Tivoli Netview running on Solaris.
After the installation we faced some problems.
Whenever a interface on a router failed for more than 24 hours, the Netview
database would lose the interface and will never appear again in the
details of the router.
Even after added these same manually it would not detect the same.
The problem is detected for routers also. we have couple of routers where
they were out of the network for more than 24 hours, after they have come
back into the network, the Netview does not detect the same. After manual
addition the icon remains blue in colour with no details.
The complete network is based on Cisco routers.
They are 2500, 2600, 3600 & 7200 series routers.
All are having the same SNMP community.
Netview has a discovery based on a seed file. Polling time is 5 minutes.
Please advise do we need to add or change any setting in the Netview.
Looking forward for some suggestions / solutions..
Thanking you,
With Warm Regards,
