I haven't been able to determine what /usr/OV/conf/mnpcodes.desc or
mnpcodes.desc.undo are used for. No one seems to know and they haen't
been touched in a long time. But trapd does not read them. They are code
point definitions all right, but to be used they would have to be added to
the AIX code point catalog, /usr/adm/ras/codepoint.cat. You would do that
with the AIX errinstall command.

The code points we use are in the AIX catalog. See the old redbook
GG24-4327-00, Examples of Using NetView for AIX, for a lengthy discussion
about how to add new code points to AIX for use by Netview. Didn't think
anyone was doing much with this sort of thing any more. It is all being
deprecated.

Subject: [NV-L] codepoint expansion in trap configuration

I am trying to determine what reference NetView uses if you do trap
customisation with the $%n syntax. It seems to successfully expand
error codepoints sent by trapgend into text - the question is what it
looks in to find these expansions???

Looking in /usr/OV/conf, mnpcodes.desc looks like a good possibility,
but can anyone confirm this?? I've searched through all the pdf manuals
and the only hit I get anywhere is in the Install&Config guide which
lists mnpcodes.desc as a file that migrates if you do a migration -
that's it.

Thanks, Jane
