This message is in MIME format. Since your mail reader does not understand this format, some or all of this message may not be legible. We use CIM agents and have NetView collect statistics and trigger thresholds from them. Much more complete than the Micro$oft MIBs. Works great. Loading the MIBs is a bit tricky (very order dependent), but once done, you can browse to your hearts content. I'm having a bit of a struggle with trap2mib on the Compaq MIBs - they don't extract without some 'dinking' around. Go fireup a Compaq server, have the server guys load ALL the insight agents, load your MIBs, check the community strings, and start browsing. You'll be surprised just how much you will find! We are currenly in the planning stage of rolling about 250 citrix boxes (compaq hardware - Terminal Server 4 Svc. Pk 5) into the Netview monitoring realm. All the research I have found, to get access to the compaq proprietary mibs, requires the various agents (Foundation, Storage, Nic ....). A co-worker insists that to do extensive hardware monitoring (disk status, memory, fan....), Microsofts SNMP service would suffice as stand alone. Unfortunately, we haven't acquired a test box, but the process must begin soon in order to get the Microsoft SNMP service installed as well as the agents (if necessary) given the time it takes to get this done. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
