Rick,

Bay/Nortel routers often have the problem that the ipAdEntIfIndex
in the interface table points to a non existing interface.
If the Router is SNMP status polled this will be a problem for netmon.

Check this:
snmpwalk BayRouter ip.ipAddrTable.ipAddrEntry.ipAdEntIfIndex
snmpwalk BayRouter interfaces.ifTable.ifEntry.ifIndex

Kind regards
Oliver Bruchhaeuser

I don't know why the status is not showing correctly. If you ping it
does it come green? That would be a false alarm, adjusted
by tuning the timeouts. Tell us all more about it, and someone
will probably have a suggestion. You might try reposting the
append you found, if you think it is the same problem.

Thank you for the quick response, I wrote directly to you because I was
going through a thread on the list service with my exact problem, but there
was no resolution to it. It was a thread titled "Cisco Links." The
platform I am on is AIX 4.3.3 and Netview 6.0.2. The serial interfaces are
numbered and we are not using the circuitless IP feature. All ifType are
the same (Point to Point Serial (22).
