I opened a pmr on this last year and worked with Tivoli support off and on for
about 4 months. They came up with a fix for the specific browser hanging
problem I was able to reproduce on demand but it took them a long time to be
able to reproduce the problem in their labs. The APAR was IY15764.

We still see this problem occasionally though in different scenarios and have
resorted to starting the browser from the command line (xnmbrowser -node xxxx)
and/or running NetView with the no logging option (netview -nl) so we don't
fill up disk space if the browser hangs and the process doesn't get killed in a
timely manner.

You should be able to search the archives on "Select failed, error code 9" to
get more history.

Bill,
You are not alone!
You will also find that your nv6000.log file grows very large very quickly
when xnmbrowser is hung.
I'm running NetView 6.0.1 on AIX 4.3.3
