I think the instructions are pretty straightforward. You contact Cisco for
a fix. It is their bitmaps which are failing.
Until then you should delete them from /usr/OV/bitmaps, re-run ovw -config,
and the GUI should start

Subject: [NV-L] error during reading background file

HI:
After I installed cicsoworks2000 in a AIX 4.3.3 node, I have the following
problem. I get the message from knowledge base.

********************************
The message "Error during reading background file. Press OK." received when
starting the NetView GUI indicates there is an error loading a bitmap.
This means that one of your icon bitmaps is in error.
There are some known erroneous bitmaps from Cisco and Bay Networks.

o. Determine which ones are bad using the "ovw -config" command.
o. Pipe the output to more or redirect it to a file so you can catch the
error messages.
o. They should contain the word "Failed".
o. Once you have found the failing bitmaps, you will need to contact the
supplier for a fix.

Below are some known bitmaps:
Bay Networks Optivity 8.1
baystack150
Ciscoworks Version 4
wsc1600
Ciscoworks 2000
8540csr
1400
1401
1402
1403
1417
*************************************
I checked my system, it's the problem of 1401,1402,1403 and 1417. Can u
tell me what I should do according:
"Once you have found the failing bitmaps, you will need to contact the
supplier for a fix."

Regards.
