Hi,
I've got a question regarding NetView users if you have enabled NetView
security. (NV 7.1 on AIX, no Web Console)
In the Administrators Guide they write:
"Only one Tivoli NetView login form the same OS user ID is permitted.
Subsequent Tivoli NetView users from the same OS user ID can start Tivoli
NetView without having to login" (page 20).
So, what does this exactly means? If a OS (AIX) user named "osuser1" is
already logged in NetView with the NV userid "nvuser1" another one can
switch to the OS user "osuser1" and can start NetView with NetView user
"nvuser1" without any prompting for the password ? So for every NetView
user I should define a seperate OS user?
But on the other hand they write in the Administrators Guide on page 21
"To use the Shift_in and Shift_out operations, operators must be in the
same Tivoli NetView group and use the same OS user ID".
So how should I design the OS users and the NV users? Total seperatly (for
each NV user a seperate OS user) or only one OS user for all NetView
administrators?
As far as I understand this:
If I have only one OS user for all NV users, it is unsecure, because
everybody can start NetView without authentication if he knows the OS user
and PW and someone other is logged in NetView. And it is not possible to
destinguish the users in the NV security logfiles.
If I have for each NV user a seperate OS user I cannot use the Shift_in
and Shift_out function.
Am I right???
Mit freundlichen Grüssen / Best regards,
Joerg Thomann
