Scott,

What you are doing with a bit of work/programming is a great feature of the
MLM.    Are you doing other things with the syslog information you are
getting?   If not, I would recommend that you toss that aside and install
an MLM on that Solaris box, or any other one.   You can easily configure
the MLM to forward only specfic Cisco traps to NetView  (by enterprise and
trap number).     You can customize the size and number of trap logs that
the MLM keeps...in case you want things for historical or diagnosis
reasons.   Every trap gets logged at the MLM, only those you choose are
forwarded to NetView.    You can even put in thresholds, an example would
be only forward this trap if I receive it 5 times within a minute.   This
is probably the BEST way to use an MLM, in my opinion.   Good luck!
