Oops, missed the list AGAIN...

I'm unclear on the relationship of the traps and the map and would like to
hear more.

Paqui, I am guessing that the New Object Holding Area you refer to is the
one on the Node Submap, where the interfaces appear, correct? If it is the
NOHA of the top level map, then they must be routers, not interfaces.

And the interfaces are changing from Unmanaged to Managed because they have
been automatically deleted and rediscovered. This almost always means that
the interface has a duplicate IP address somewhere in the network, and
Netview
is moving it back and forth every time it does a configuration poll
(daily), or
a demandpoll, or at netmon startup. Sometimes these duplicates are
intentional,
and sometimes they are a mistake. If they are intentional, you should
identify
them to Netview using '%xx.xx.xx.xx' in the seedfile. This will cause
Netview
to treat them similar to Cisco HSRP addresses, which means less moving
around.

It may also help to make a Smartset of all Dialer interfaces, where you can
easily grab them all at once and unmange them if necessary.

Cordially,

If it is a cisco device try using this in the router configuration:

no snmp trap link-status

This prevents the Cisco IOS from sending link up / link down traps for this
interface. I code this on all of our PPP routers to prevent the topology
thrashing from users logging in via PPP. This statement is coded on each
interface you want to supress the traps from.

       Running Netview 6.0.3 ..........Aix 4.3.3.

I have problems wiht interfaces managed and unmanaged. I have the
interfaces DIALER --wiht ip adrress -- unmanaged . Sometimes, the
Netview delete these interfaces, and appear in new objecta area ,
      status down.
I can force to that discovers them unmanaged?
      Because these interfaces are deleted?
