That is an interesting issue. I have past customized the integration between NetView and Cisco when CiscoWorks was installed on a second machine. It meant editing all the registration files so that the cisco commands ran on the other box...with a -DISPLAY pointing back to where the NetView GUI was running. I think this would work for Linux as well. I don't have a setup to try it at the moment, but I think it would be feasible (at least partly). You would have to configure secure-shell or rsh to the ciscoWorks box.
