If you are an internal Tivoli developer, there are better ways to get your
answers than the external forum. If you work for IBM, then send me a note
internally and I will point you to the right folks in NetView development.
>Does NetView read enumerated values and then translate them to a name,

I presume you are asking about trap processing. If so, the answer is "no"
but you can format the trap to say things like " Severity = $1, where 1=low,
2=medium, 3=critical" if that's what you need to do. That's what
the users will see in the window. If you are talking about the MIB
browser, the answer is "yes". If the loaded MIB contains the enumeration
then it will be displayed.
>Does NetView support a variable number of variable bindings?
Yes.
>Do you have to load the MIBs everytime or is it put into cache memory and
then connected to some files?
MIBs are loaded into a binary database one time

Subject: [nv-l] Does NetView read enumerated variables?
Does Netview read enumerated values and then translate them to a name, ex:
severity can be 1=low, 2=medium, 3=critical ?
Does NetView support a variable number of variable bindings?
Do you have to load the MIBs everytime or is it put into cache memory and
then connected to some files? Thanks.
