You can think of each node in a ruleset as a sort of go/nogo filter for
the event. If you match the criteria, you continue to the next node in
the path (go). If you don't, then processing for that event in that path
stops right there (nogo).
But if you are just starting to play with "Query DataBase Field" there has
been some serious new improvements made to it recently, provided by APAR
IY20298. "Query", along with it's companion, "Set Database Field" will
now accept the 'x.y' notation indicating the " the yth word of the xth
variable" in the incoming trap instead of requiring the entire variable
string, and the compare logic has been improved so that "Origin" is now
treated as a Hostname or IP Address rather than just a ulong integer. That
makes it much easier to use. The "Set Global Variable" and "Query Global
Variable" Nodes have been improved the same way as well by this fix. It
is not yet generally available. You would have to contact Level 2 and see
about getting an e-fix.

Subject: [nv-l] RULSET ? Query Database Field
Netview 7.1.2
Sol 2.7
If I use a Query Database Field in ruleset, does it PASS event on match
and block if not?
The doc isn't clear on this but I would guess this is how it works.
Thanks in advance.
