I gotta mention that I dont know PIX Firewalls but maybe there could be a
similar solution.

We have a special network for our SAP environment on a Extreme Network base. We
got 2 Routers, exactly the same configuration and name on both, NetView cant
handle this as it seems and since the switch overs are done within seconds it
wont even see the change. The solution we got there are the syslog traps from
those routers that show that they switched over. I dont think NetView is able
to detect this by itself but I might be wrong.

On the same subject, the key might be router sysname. We have a problem with
our PIX firewalls because the replication of the configuration from one box to
the other uses the same sysname. Therefore HSRP processing doesn't handle this
correctly. NetView cannot tell when it switches because the primary and
secondary devices have the same sysname. Anyone have an idea on how to work
around this?
