Hello Everyone.

NV 7.1.3 on AIX 4.3.3 ML10.

Management would like all of my routers on the map to have the same format
for their Selection Name/Label. So all routers will be labeled according to
the loopback name which has a standard format.

I accomplish this by running a script early in the morning that finds all
loopback addresses in the DNS, adds those IPs not already on the map to the
netmon.seed file and then runs "netmonaction.sh seed". The script then goes
through a while loop to ping all of the addresses.

I have the "!@oid 0 line in the netmon.seed file so devices that don't
support SNMP are not added. Not everything is getting discovered or added to
the map. I suspect the script needs to do more than just ping the device or
netmon may be too busy polling to add new objects.

Should I add an "snmpwalk hostname system" command in the while loop?

How does netmon determine if a device supports SNMP? Is it a snmpwalk of the
system objects or ip objects or at objects?

Thanks in advance.
