Hi
Jim
Jennifer´s sugestion is good, but I think it won´t
work out, cause Scoping is not allowed to Smartsets, only for networks and
locations.
If
you create another location formed by copied resources isn´t a good choice,
cause status of the copies is not syncronized with the
original.
Unfortunately you have to find a way to group these
devices in locations or networks.
Hi
Jim-
What about making a SmartSet
containing all of these objects? Another option could be to use the
scoping option on the web console security feature to scope users requiring
access to only see the print components somehow but the SmartSet solution
would probably be simpler.

Subject: [nv-l] Map Layout by
Application
|
We have always laid out our NetView map based on
location. We do use container
objects
to simplify things, but
these are typically cities or buildings. We've received
a request for a
view
of all the components of our printing subsystem. This view would
include all of
the central servers,
distributed print servers, fax
servers and some critical printers, and, all of
the networks
that
connect them. He'd also prefer that it be possible to link to this
view from a
web page. Leaving
that last requirement aside for the
moment, we can think of two ways to do this:
1. A second NetView map -
we have always avoided this option because of the
complications
involved in maintaining multiple maps.
2. A new container object
into which the selected components can be COPIED and
pasted.
We tried this approach. It appears that the copied objects appear on
the
"User" plane
and do not show any connections to each
other.
So how can we give this guy his application view? Any
suggestions?
