My feeling is that NetView is getting less and less dependent on
Framework.
What benefit do you get?
1) A NetView icon on a Tivoli Desktop - but only at the top-level, not
in a Policy Region, so not controlled via Tivoli Framework authorisation
and authentication
2) Ability to export NetView databases to a RDBMS via RIM. This is
important if you want to use TDS (but TDS is not going to be around for
much longer...). The replacement, Tivoli Enterprise Data Warehouse
(TEDW), does not rely on RIM functionality or Framework under NetView.
What's against Framework with NetView?
1) If you need to change the name of your NetView Server, NetView can
cope with that but the underlying Framework can't.
Having said that, I would still deploy an Endpoint on my NetView Server
so I can have a TEC logfile adapter and use ITM on it (and potentially
do other management stuff on that box).
Cheers,
Jane

Hello Everyone,
Could anyone pls advise on the pros & cons of installing Netview 7.1.3 on
AIX within Tivoli Framework and is this generally preferred or not ?
Kind Regards,
