DCF Document ID: 1016836 - IBM Tivoli NetView: ERROR: "Error during reading
background file. Press OK." received when starting the NetView GUI.
Problem Desc: ERROR: "Error during reading background file. Press OK."
received when starting the NetView GUI.

Solution: The message "Error during reading background file. Press OK."
received when starting the NetView GUI indicates there is an error loading
a bitmap.
This means that one of your icon bitmaps is in error.
There are some known erroneous bitmaps from Cisco and Bay Networks.

o. Determine which ones are bad using the "ovw -config" command.
o. Pipe the output to more or redirect it to a file so you can catch the
error messages.
o. They should contain the word "Failed".
o. Once you have found the failing bitmaps, you will need to contact the
supplier for a fix.

Below are some known bitmaps:
Bay Networks Optivity 8.1
baystack150
Ciscoworks Version 4
wsc1600
Ciscoworks 2000
8540csr
1400
1401

When I start up nv6000 right now, I get this little popup window with the
message:

 Error during reading background file.
 Press OK

It doesn't proceed opening ovw until OK is clicked.

I think this started occurring after someone tried to customize the
background picture. Anyway, it isn't fatal, but certainly is annoying.
Anyone know how to clear this up?

Thanks in advance,
