yes, Gareth is right.
NMAVAILABILITY is not for TDW but for TDS (Tivoli Decision Support)
integration.
Found the following Solutions:
----------------
DCF Document ID: 1066888 - IBM Tivoli NetView: Improved "netmon.conf"
Parameter Definition of NMAVAILABILITY
Problem Desc: Needing a concise description of the following parameter
contained in /usr/OV/conf/netmon.conf? NMAVAILABILITY
Solution: The following parameter allows TDS (Tivoli Decision Support)
availability data to be gathered.
# Set to TRUE to enable writing the availability file
#NMAVAILABILITY=FALSE
----------------
----------------
DCF Document ID: 1063328 - IBM Tivoli NetView: AvailData files on version
7.1.2
Problem Desc: How can you create availData_***** files on NetView version
7.1.2, to provide up/down availability information?
Solution: NetView 7.1.2 now has a configuration file:
"/usr/OV/conf/netmon.conf".
The last couple of lines read:
# Set to TRUE to enable writing the availability file
#NMAVAILABILITY=FALSE
The comment in the file incorrectly states that the environment variable
should be set to TRUE; it should be set to one. Add the following line:
NMAVAILABLILITY=1
The values in the "netmon.conf" override the environment variables set by
"/usr/OV/bin/netnmrc.pre" or where ever else they are set.

I don't think the NMAVAILABILITY variable has anything to do with the
integration with the Tivoli Enterprise Data Warehouse (could be wrong)
because the variable TDWAVAILABILITY in the /usr/OV/conf/netmon.conf file
is used to disable/enable the NetView Warehouse integration function. If
enabled, availability data is written to a DB2 database and not a file.

I assume this is for the Tivoli Data Warehouse integration.

What does this option do exactly in /usr/OV/conf/netmon.conf:
# Set to TRUE to enable writing the availability file
#NMAVAILABILITY=FALSE

Scott,
unfortunately on NetView 6 no more duplicate ip address traps are generated
as it was on NetView 5.
On NetView 7.1 this feature can be reenabled by setting the following
netmon option in /usr/OV/conf/netmon.conf
-----
# Set to TRUE to generate a duplicate event as in v5
NV_NETMON_GENERATE_DUP_ADDR_EVENT=TRUE
-----
On NetView 6 I would recommend to turn on a full netmon trace for some time
with "netmon -M -1".
And:
grep Duplicate /usr/OV/log/netmon.trace*
from time to time.
This will show you something like:
10:47:28 : .//nl_snmpstate.c[6971] : Duplicate IP address 10.100.50.3 on
tivnvcisco1 and tivnvcisco2
Hope this helps ... and don't forget to stop the netmon trace again with
"netmon -M 0".
Kind regards
