We ended up reinstalling the FW (Stand alone TMR) and backing up the entire
/usr/OV file structure. I then ran the uninstnv script to remove all traces
of NV and did a clean 7.1.3 install and then applied the fix pack 1. I shut
down all of the daemons and then restored the backed up files overwriting
the existing and restarted the daemons. All looks good.

I hope you called support. They may have a magic way of doing this.

My policy is that it is better to do it over than it is to hack it. I sleep
better that way. So I would do the Netview backup thing, as if I were doing
a migration (makes /usr/OV.back.v7r1). Also get your patches all together,
since those are not migrated. Also any registration files you modified,
since they are not migrated either. You don't keep your custom scripts and
things under /usr/OV, do you? If you do, move them. It's a bad place to
keep them. Then deinstall Netview, clean up the managed node from the point
of view of the Netview server and the TMR server, and then recreate the
Managed Node and reinstall Netview in the presence of your backup
filesystem. Put your saved stuff back on and your are all set. Probably one
long evening of work.

Then take some real backups. Myself, I like a mksysb on a real tape in the
bottom drawer.

Cordially,

NetView 7.1.3 AIX 4.3.3 Framework: Managed Node version 3.7

It appears that the Managed Node directories were NFS mounted on our
NetView
box and the Unix guys unmounted it and corrupted the data and they can't
find the backup data.

Here is my question?

If I end up reinstalling the framework, what do I need to do to get the
NetView hooks back in? How big of an effort will this be?

Thanks,
