It turns out this functionality is now available in the NetView for Windows code. I was told by the Developer who actually added it (probably starting at the 7.1.2 code level). To tell ipmap not to override symbol customization: 1. Edit the "\usr\ov\reg\advanced\c\ipmap" file 2. Add the -u flag towards the end of the line: Command -Shared -Initial -Restart '/usr/ov/bin/ipmap.exe' ; So that it reads: Command -Shared -Initial -Restart '/usr/ov/bin/ipmap.exe -u'; 3. Restart the GUI. This should tell ipmap not to reset symbols back to their defaults. I hope this helps. The NetView for Windows product does not have the same function from what I can see (somebody correct me if I'm wrong). For the Windows version, a symbol type can only be changed if a user created the object. If the object was created by an application, the type cannot be changed, only the sub-type can be changed. An engineer sent this response to a previous question that I had posted: >From a native read-write GUI, go to "File -> Describe Map...." Select "IP Map", click "Configure For This Map ..." Scroll to the bottom and change "Should IP Map override user symbol customization?" to False. I am using NetView on Windows systems and could not find this setting in the menu options or via the help. Does this same option exist for Windows platforms and If so, how can I set it? Thank you very much, Ken |
