I agree that using the tme10 mailing list is better for Tivoli questions.
To help, I suggest you look at chapter 4 of the TEC Installation guide for
3.8. The link is above. Chapter 4 is a "Quick Start for Simple
Environment" and assumes you are using DB2 for the database. Yes, I have
installed using FW 4.1 with no problems. Good luck.

TEC installation and setup issues are covered on another forum. I suggest
you try your questions there if you don't get an answer here.
Take a look at

details.

If you can't get there, you can subscribe to the TME10 forum by sending an

You post to it by sending to tme10@lists.tivoli.com in a fashion similar

Hi

Forgive me if i am sending this to a wrong mailing list. I could not find a
similar mailing list as this for enterprise console. If there is another
mailing list or user forum as active, please do suggest.

One of our customers is asking for TEC class definitions for our product.
So
i need to install a very minimal configuration of TEC. Chapter 4 of TEC
installation guide has a recommendation of one machine setup of all the
components (Tivoli Framework and patches, TEC, Event Database, Event
Console, Netview, netview webconsole). Now i have some questions about
this?

1. The latest version for TEC is 3.8 and the latest for Tivoli Managment
Framework is 4.1. Are these two compatible? The install guide for TEC 3.8
suggests to install 3.7B of Tivoli Managment Framework and then upgrade it
to 3.7.1. But when i tried to download through electroni download (yes, we
are a development partner of IBM), there is nothing about 3.7B that i could
find? I found however some tar files for 4.1 and 3.7.1. Can i install
either
of these directly without having to upgrade from any earlier versions?

2. The install guide says the supported platforms are aix, solaris windows.
Which operating system and which version is the easiest from the point of
view of installing and using? It seems to me that windows is easier to
handle, because at least no patches are needed to be installed for the OS.

3. If we are going to install all the components on one machine, what is
the
minimum amount of disk space and memory needed for this machine?

Thanks
Girish
