Yes, this tells you that netmon is a little behind for those nodes. If you check it from time to time, you should see the number of negative entries reduce until there are none. It is not unusual to see it be hundreds behind and then catch up in a couple of minutes. I use this behavior to tune the polling frequency and the number of concurrent polls ( big Q and little q in the netmon parameters). Worst case will be on netmon restart after an ovtopofix when everything is slated for a configuration poll. The entries at the top of the list will be those the furthest behind, and I believe those are seconds. Cordially, Leslie A. Clark IBM Global Services - Systems Mgmt & Networking Detroit
I have many entries in my snmpList with negative values. I do not recall what the negative number means. Thee are about 200 devices. If I recall the negative number means that netmon is behind in polling. Is this correct? I am getting many false node down messages. ---------- snmpList [0x82401f8] ---------- ** 1648 elements on the NODE list ** -215: cls-indi.corp.cat.com (172.22.75.129) numif = 4 > status at -215 config at 81002 at at 400 -213: baldbp-1.corp.cat.com (137.230.254.145) numif = 4 > 0x82401f8 status at -213 config at 81059 at at 401 -213: cls-reno.corp.cat.com (172.22.14.129) numif = 4 > status at -213 config at 81057 at at 401 -212: melrdx-1.corp.cat.com (172.29.0.101) numif = 2 > status at -212 config at 81065 at at 401 -211: sup-butl.corp.cat.com (137.230.254.237) numif = 3 > 0x82401f8 status at -211 config at 81126 at at 405 -211: b52924btrain1.goss.cat.com (172.26.21.80) numif = 1 > 0x82401f8 config at 86069 at at 204 -211: b52924btrain3.goss.cat.com (172.26.21.62) numif = 1 > 0x82401f8 config at 86069 at at 204 -210: discovery.corp.cat.com (137.230.143.142) numif = 1 > 0x82401f8 config at 81223 at at 429 -210: solalaf-1.solar.cat.com (206.203.171.53) numif = 3 > 0x82401f8 status at -210 config at 81142 at at 423 -210: solamid-1.solar.cat.com (206.203.171.225) numif = 3 > 0x82401f8 status at -210 config at 27195 at at 204 Thanks Alan E.
