Hi List,

I just wanted to share with you all
what the problem and solution for this issue that I had.   Apparently
the Cisco IOS version installed on the router had known bugs for the SNMP
agent [12.0 (5)T1].  We upgraded it 12.1 (18).  Now I can properly
SNMP poll the router without the ups/downs as well as get the traps that
I needed.

The only way is going to be to sniff the network(ethereal,
tcpdump) and
capture the hex of the packet. Now, ethereal will format the packet nicely
and it may show why it is invalid. You could supply that to your vendor.
