I just did something along these lines yesterday. I am on Solaris with NetView 7.1.4 and I did NOT see the behavior you mention.I created a new map and the existing map closed.

Before I send this on to Support I thought I might ask and see if anyone has seen this.

Not sure if the version matters, but using 7.1.4 AIX Netview.

When you create a new map and have multiple maps open, Netview does not kill the others maps, it leaves them open, however they are all blank. and the Map window cannot be closed.   Has anyone seen this before.
