 I
checked the snmp and snmptrap service security - all ok.  The
machine has a static address.
The
machine is a vmware image, but it's connectivity seems ok - TMR and TEC and
happy from the host and other hosts on my network.
In the
end I figured something dum was happening so I re-installed NV - it was a
totally vanilla install to start with & it's working fine now (as it
previously did)!  Of course my generated nvsnmptrap call wasn't quite
right, but that is what I was testing.....;-)
In
general I think the comments are correct though - it was connectivity of some
sort going wrong - I've seen strange effects when ip addresses have changed
underneath me & this was similar.  If it happens again I'll start
there.
Many
thanks..
