I have added a device (it is a Contivity Extranet Switch) into Netview. Monitoring of the status of this switch is done via a tunnel from on CES to the target one. In testing it, the CES operators took the tunnel down, causing polls to time out (as planned) but the color of the device icon on the netview GUI (X11 and Web) did not change from Green.
