[nv-l] 7.1.3 FP01 -> 7.1.4 upgrade failed

We're testing this upgrade currently. We're on AIX 5.1. We use "sudo", so I did a "sudo ./instalnv -k SERVER -u" from the CDROM directory. The CDROM was obtained from Passport Advantage online via download. I copied the untarred CDROM to the server from a Windows NT machine with Putty scp (pscp). I had to remove control-M's from all text files on the server, since they got transferred in binary with scp from the Windows NT machine.

 

Also, a /usr/OV.back.v7r1 directory was created with serversetup prior to attempting the upgrade.  Also, a tarball of the entire /usr/OV directory was made to disk.

 

Now - the failure:

NVSERVUP.IND tell me that "Portable Files" is FILE19.PKT, a 190MB binary file. The associated FILE19.CFG file indicates this step has no scripts, just files to unpack, shown below... none of these files unpacked:

The "Portable Files" step is second to completion - the last step is "Portable Files Configuration", FILE20.PKT/FILE20.CFG, which has an "after" script.

I saved off the contents of /tmp and /usr/OV/log.

 

 

QUESTIONS:

 

1.  What went wrong? Do you think the scp copy affected FILE19.PKT? It is just a sapack'ed file of tarfiles, maybe some DOS carriage returns are present? I will have to do some sapack tests in the meantime...

2.  Can this upgrade be salvaged? How? It seems that the core Netview server has been upgraded sucessfully, given success of all prior FilePackage blocks in the NVSERVUP.IND.

3.  What are my options? What's the best option to get to 7.1.4 from here?
