The scp copy won't have damaged the
files. I suspect that what you used to untar on the NT box went wrong.
The usual mistake is to use Winzip without
unchecking the tar autoformat option first.  Was it Winzip?

We're on AIX 5.1. We use "sudo", so I did a "sudo ./instalnv
-k SERVER -u" from the CDROM directory. The >CDROM was obtained
from Passport Advantage online via download. I copied the untarred CDROM
to the server from a Windows NT machine with >Putty scp (pscp). I had
to remove control-M's from all text files on the server, since they got
transferred in binary with scp from the Windows NT >machine.
