Maybe DNS or hostname. Try "export DISPLAY=xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:0" (IP address) or try adding clientMachine to /etc/hosts on the server.

Thanks,
I have done exactly that:
- "xhost +" on the client Machine
- telnet to the Server Machine
- set the DISPLAY (export DISPLAY=clientMachine:0.0)
That is when I get the message "Cannot Open Display for "clientMachine:0.0".

Q1: Any Ideas?

Meyos,

You were so close on your step #2, you should not have dropped the plus sign (+)

xhost Command
Purpose
Controls who accesses Enhanced X-Windows on the current host machine.
Syntax
xhost [ + | - ] [ Name ]

You need to do this on server2:

xhost + <IP NetView Server>

This is assuming that server2 is a unix platform or running an X emulator .

NV7.1.3 , Solaris9, Fixpack2

Have anyone seen the following error?

"fatal IO error 131 (connection reset by peer) on X Server "server2" after 0 request (0 know processed) with 0 events remaining .....Couldn't open display"

Here is what we have done so far :

1- "xhost +"  on the Netview server

2- "xhost IP NetviewServer" on the dumb terminal of server2

3- ran "telnet NetviewServerIP" from a console on server2

4- ran "export DISPLAY=server2:0.0" on the telnet session to NetviewServer

5- ran "netview" on the console on server2 telneted to NetviewServer.

6- then I got the above error.

Q1: Help?

Thank You,
Meyos
