Jane,
We log the router up and down events and run a perl script against the
log to calculate downtime for our routers. It is not particularly
eloquent but more or less suits our needs (of course it would be nicer
if NetView could do it for us... But hey, that's why they pay us the big
bucks (if I keep saying it often enough it may come true :-)))

Subject: [nv-l] Availability View in NetView for windows
NetView 7.1.4 for Windows.
Is it possible to see the uptime for routers/switches with decimals, ie
99,545%. I can only see uptime without decimals, ie 99%. Anyone know how
this is calculated?
There isn't an obvious equivalent feature on NetView for Unix, though
there used to be an environment variable something like NMAVAILABILITY
?? which collected data to feed to TDS - does anyone have a method for
availability data on Unix (not using Data Warehouse).
Cheers,
Jane
