delete an rediscover may be an option for a (very) few nodes.
but since our last "initial discovery" (Fri Jun 30 12:07:34 2000) we've "collected" HUNDREDS! of wrong/generic symbols ...

solution #1
convince your users, that "delete and rediscover" is definitely NOT worth the effort.
e.g. "who cares about symbols? it's the status (green/red/yellow/white/whatever) that counts ..."

solution #2
convince IBM, that an ipmap-function "GLOBAL SYMBOL CHANGE" is more than overdue ...

regards & sorry (4flame)

Did you delete and rediscover? ipmap decides on symbol type at discovery.

Hi listeners,

we have snmp-supported objects collected in a SmartSet.

Now one of this Nodes (EnterpriseID 1.3.6.1.4.1.546) had no entry in
oid_to_sym and was shown with default-icon
Computer:Generic
I have configured a Symbol for this EnterpriseID (Server:License) with the
final result that the symbol has changed in the SmartSet BUT NOT in the
IPMap.

Any ideas?

Thanks for any replies

Martina
