As James pointed out, run "ps -ef | grep netviewd" if that is running, you will
need to use "netview -dconsole" to start a read-write map. This is because
netviewd is a map and it is read-write. The command above will allow you to
stop that map and take the read-write map.

Unfortunately I have already been down that road there are not any orphaned procs that pertain to netview, that is my confusion

One of you previous netview console sessions may be up. Identify and
kill "old" sessions from root.

Subject: [nv-l] Cannot get root map

I cannot get a root (Read Write) Map from Netview 7.1.4 when logging in
from root account on Solaris 9

The window say (Bottom right of GUI) default@servername(read-only) the
other pane says Root(Auto-Layout)

I am not able to manage/unmanage or delete anything from the maps

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Mike Noonkesser
