Do you mean the nvaddtrapdconf command? On AIX, it is in /usr/OV/bin and accepts a -R parameter. Assuming you meant nvaddtrapdconf, the error you see usually means NetView security is enabled and you are not logged into NetView security or are not authorized to run the "event" command. A more remote possibility is you have done something to enhance UNIX security, and you are no longer authorized to run /usr/OV/bin/vfy_access. You can see all this at the end of the script /usr/OV/bin/nvaddtrapdconf, again, if that is what you meant. In that case, the event to tell trapd the configuration has changed is not sent. The update, however has been done and trapd will recognize the trap after the next recycle or you successfully send the event to tell trapd the configuration is updated... Which is "event -e FMTCHG" Regards, Geo. George deSocio IBM Americas Support - Distributed Network Management Dept 46-E1ZA Bldg B062 Office B318 PO Box 12195 Research Triangle Park, NC 27709-2195
You'll have to tell us. nvaddtotrapd is not a command shipped with either NetView for Windows nor NetView for UNIX so it must be something developed for you locally. Is it a script? If so, then perhaps you can tell what NetView commands it is running. James Shanks Level 3 Support for Tivoli NetView for UNIX and Windows Tivoli Software / IBM Software Group "Michael J. I have successfully executed this command before, multiple times, on this same server, but now when I try to run it it says: Merged trapd_custom into /usr/OV/conf/C/trapd.conf NOTE: Unable to update trapd at this time. Any ideas? Thanks in advance, Michael J. Freeman -- Michael J. Freeman NMS Development Netco Government Services, Inc. (See attached file: atty7f6c.dat)
