that depends entirely on the brand of your switches.

 

if you have cisco you might want to look at the ENTITY-MIB and CISCO-ENTITY-ASSET-MIB mibs.

 

please note that the serial numbers retrieved from these mibs "MIGHT NOT" correspond with those

on the outside of the physical parts.
