I'm not sure that I understand just what you think is wrong here, nor do I
understand exactly what you mean by "restarting the NetView server" -- is
that the same as rebooting the box? And you didn't say where these
messages you say you get are appearing. So I can only surmise what is
happening.
But when a machine is rebooted, MLM will always start before the NetView
daemons are up. Always. So my guess is that it is he who is saying that
there is no session with the manager, because netmon is not responding to
him. netmon is one of the last NetView daemons to start. And even when it
does start, it has to read its seed file and do its internal housekeeping,
such as loading the topology, setting up ping lists and so on, before it
can do normal processing. So it would not surprise me if that might take
up to three minutes. In many environments it takes even longer.
All this sounds perfectly normal to me, so I don't quite see why you are
concerned.

[nv-l] Session between manager and

Hi All.
We have a solaris 2.8 with Netview 7.1.4 FP3.
Right after restarting the Netview server we get the message "Session
between manager and agent node is down".
The MLM process is running on the same box as netview does.
Three minutes after this session down message we get another one with
"Netview xxx" Up".
All systems looks fine even after having received this error message.
Also with MLM Configuration Application we can verify that both the
Netview processes and the MLM are running fine.
Does anyone have a clue of why this message appears after boot?.
B. Regards
