Oops, I meant xnmtrap and snmp_trapsend is just a Solaris utility that
can be used to generate traps (/usr/sbin/snmp_trapsend -e
".1.3.6.1.4.1.31337.1 STRING (foobar )" -h 172.17.253.10 -c
RO_Comm_String)

xnmevent? We don't ship such a thing. xnmtrap? I don't recognize
snmp_trapsend either.

but double check your definition anyway.
On Windows your enterprise has to be an exact match (watch that .1 on
the
end) and the match extends to the specific trap number.
UNIX is more forgiving about the enterprise but you'd still need to make
certain the specific trap number was correct

I've tried to add my own OID to the trapd.conf through the xnmevent
interface using an OID out of the private enterprise MIB
(1.3.6.1.4.1.31337, and no this is not legit with IANA) and then created
a "test" event. When I send a trap to netview using snmp_trapsend on
1.3.6.1.4.1.31337.1 I get an error in the trapd.log that says Trap found
with no format in trapd.conf. Looking at the /usr/OV/conf/C/trapd.conf I
can see the entry in there, and trapd has been restarted, yet I'm still
getting these errors.

Do I need to do something else to add custom trap definitions?

Thanks in advance,
Michael J. Freeman
