Some process is using the copyright file, and it may not be all that obvious. After installation of 7.1.4 you can be left with a couple of processes named xnmappmon. If you haven't closed their windows yet. close them. If you just minimized them that could be it. Do you have lsof installed? If so, do two things. If not, get it for your level of the os. Google it, you'll find it. or go here: http://aixpdslib.seas.ucla.edu/packages/lsof.html Run lsof and you will see all the inodes of open files way over on the right. use this command to get the inode number of the copyright file: ls -i /usr/OV/bin/DisplayCpyrght match the two up and you know your process on the left side of the lsof report. Any further research needed to solve this you should open a PMR with support Regards, Geo. Running Netview 7.1.4 on AIX 5.1. Just upgraded to 7.1.4. When I try to apply FP04 I get the error: nccrs1 root /usr/ # ./install 14:10:00 Performing Prerequisite Checking. 14:10:00 Performing File Extraction. 14:11:30 Performing Space Checks. 14:11:38 Performing File Backup. 14:13:29 Shutting down NetView daemons. 14:14:02 Performing File Replacement. cp: /usr/OV/bin/DisplayCpyrght: Cannot open or remove a file containing a running program. 14:14:03 Installation of /usr/OV/bin/DisplayCpyrght failed. 14:14:03 Installation aborted - the state of the NetView installation is unknown. 14:14:03 Use /usr/OV/service/V714/FixPack4/backout to restore this system. After the backout, tried to copy file manually, same copy error. Any Ideas?
